Lonza Laboratories

Lonza Laboratories is one of the leading suppliers to the pharmaceutical, healthcare and life science industries. The company’s Walkersville facility serves as a cCMP manufacturing center of cell culture media and sera used in research, pharmaceutical and therapeutic applications. For this project, Forrester Construction performed a phased renovation and 45,000 SF addition to the occupied cell therapy and biosciences laboratory.

The BSL 2 and 3 accredited and cGMP certified laboratories at the Lonza Walkersville facility feature biosafety cabinets, autoclaves, air lock rooms with showers, epoxy flooring, supply and exhaust systems with HEPA filtering as well as precision building automation systems controlling temperature and humidity. The project also included improvements to the utilities infrastructure through the installation of a six megawatt backup generator facility in an adjacent building.
