District Commons | Burger Tap & Shake

For this repeat client Forrester Construction built-out both District Commons | Burger Tap & Shake restaurants which share a central kitchen, keg space and restrooms.  Located side-by-side on Pennsylvania Avenue in Northwest DC, Passion Food Hospitality’s District Commons and Burger Tap & Shake are separate restaurants united under one roof.

District Commons is a 21st century interpretation of an American tavern serving classic dishes with a contemporary twist. The 8,000 SF restaurant includes main and private dining rooms, a bar and lounge and an open kitchen. The space’s modern design features custom booths and large photo murals.

Burger Tap & Shake is a 2,000 SF seat yourself burger counter offering premium house-ground burgers and house-made ice cream shakes. Cement floors, exposed ductwork, chalkboard painted walls and an exposed stainless steel grill create the restaurant’s industrial chic aesthetic.
