NCIS Headquarters Modernization
Forrester Construction‘s design build project for NCIS Headquarters Modernization involved a full interior demolition, renovation, addition and modernization to a National Historic Landmark District Contributing Structure.
The project provided office space for the following organizations: Strategic Systems Programs (SSP), Navy International Programs Office (IPO), the Navy Historical and Heritage Command, Office of Judge Advocate General (OJAG) and Naval Criminal Investigative Service (NCIS). In the space renovated for OJAG, a state-of-the-art SMART courtroom was constructed. This courtroom features electronic climate control, biometrics and interactive monitors for remote witness testimony.
Within the 250,000 SF facility, eight Sensitive Compartmented Information Facility (SCIFs) were constructed and an entire floor was built out to a “strong room” standard. Additionally, the entire building underwent structural upgrades as required for Anti-Terrorism Force Protection (ATFP) blast resistance and seismic criteria.
