Foxcroft School Welcome Center

Founded in 1914, the Foxcroft School is a college-preparatory boarding and day school for girls in grades 9 through 12. Forrester Construction’s third for this repeat client, this project involved converting a 19,000 square foot court dormitory into a Foxcroft School Welcome Center for visitors with additional spaces for a school store and administrative offices. Work included considerable demolition, second floor additions to the rear wings and extensive site work. Forrester also provided new mechanical and electrical systems and foundation waterproofing.

The original building required significant structural modifications to meet the school’s new programmatic requirements. The project team installed extra foundation underpinning to support rear vertical additions and installed helical piles in the main building. These supported the new front entrance, sidewalk and parking area. High-efficiency heat pump systems with geothermal wells were also added.

Because this project took place on an active academic campus, Forrester was able to engage with the clients’ mission by providing a regular STEM seminar for students. The seminar highlighted ongoing features of work with regular site tours and hands-on learning opportunities.
